To all my fellow American P&P Fans, readers, and visitors of this blog who are celebrating Thanksgiving aka Turkey Day (the traditional U.S. Holiday) today, just want to wish you all a very...
Pride & Prejudice director Joe Wright is currently filming the Darkest Hour with Working Title Films and Focus Features releasing the first image of lead star Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill. (See movie still above ^). They also recently revealed the creative team behind this movie along with JW. Looks like a few of JW's most frequent collaborators starting from his very first feature film (P&P) are back working with him in this new film. Oscar Nominees and Winners* such as Dario Marianelli (nominated for P&P, Atonement, Anna Karenina and winner for Best Original Score for JW's *Atonement), Jacqueline Durran (nominated for Best Achievement in Costume Design for Pride & Prejudice, Atonement, and winner in *Anna Karenina), Sarah Greenwood (nominated for Best Production Design for P&P, Atonement, and Anna Karenina), and Katie Spencer (nominated for Best Set Decorator/Production Designer for P&P, Atonement, and Anna Karenina). I recently finished watching (in less than a day), Netflix's new original miniseries The Crown (The early reign of Queen Elizabeth II of England is portrayed) starring Claire Foy (Little Dorrit) and Matt Smith (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies). It premiered earlier this month, November 4th with ten episodes. Having not read any news (other than it was going to be on Netflix and I didn't know who the actors were going to be in the main cast either) or spoilers about this miniseries. I thought it would be done after 10 episodes, but it looks like, this was just season one and season two is coming soon. When? I don't know, but I sure can't wait! I got hooked watching this miniseries, since I love watching period dramas and especially with the royals or monarchies (ie. The Young Victoria, The Other Boleyn Girl, The Duchess, etc.). I thought this was a very good and a must-watch miniseries (I was fascinated by it, whether it was accurate or not about Queen Elizabeth's …
This is an interesting casting news (though I'm a bit late on posting this here) and movie title. Today's birthday celebrant Jena Malonewill star as the female lead in a new indie drama, A Moment to Remember with Josh Harnett, who wasin talks (in August) to co-star with her, according to Deadline. I thought the title and premise sounded familiar and that I've seen a movie similar to this one. Sure enough, I remember seeing a similar one, which was a South Korean movie of the same title (and premise) a couple years ago. It was a very good melo-drama (but a tearjerker one) Korean film. So, with Jena starring on this Hollywood remake opposite handsome Josh Harnett, plus the writer of Erin Brockovich. I am most definitely looking forward to seeing this movie!

I previously posted here last March that Pride & Prejudice director Joe Wrightis in talks to direct another Churchill related movie, titled Darkest Hour. Here's an update with a confirmation of JW directing the WWII film with recent casting and theatrical release dates announced for both US and International. Also, with production and filming underway, JW is reteaming with Working Title Films (formerly Working Title Productions) and Focus Features, which will be his 4th feature film after P&P, Atonement, and Anna Karenina and 5th after Hanna (Focus Features).
The main cast are interesting choices with Gary Oldman as PM Winston Churchill, Kristin Scott Thomas as Churchill's wife Clementine, and Lily James (aka Pride and Prejudice and Zombies's own Elizabeth Bennet)as Churchill's personal secretary Elizabeth Nel. John Hurt and Ben Mendelsohn also star. Looks like no P&P actor, for the first time, is part of JW's new film, unless one or two of them who fre…
